Karen B. Pasieka, MD

Karen Pasieka has been a pediatrician at CareMount Medical for the past 23 years. She grew up in White Plains and first discovered her love for medicine volunteering as a teenager at White Plains Hospital. She studied Biology at MIT and then went on the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her Pediatric Residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. She has been married to Michael, a computer programmer, for 31 years and they have 4 children. Their third son, Derek, is severely handicapped, mentally and physically. Raising Derek has added a great challenge to the Pasieka home. Because of this experience, Dr. Pasieka now runs a monthly support group for parents of neurologically impaired, medically fragile children. Meeting with those parents, and sharing in their struggles to maximally care for their special-needs children, has been professionally and personally fulfilling. Dr. Pasieka's main hobby is volunteering for the Danbury Animal Welfare Society, an animal advocacy and rescue group. She wears many hats at DAWS, but her passion is running the Puppy Foster Program. She and her family have fostered hundreds of puppies at their house over the past 11 years, including many litters born at their house. She is happy to raise the pups with love and then send them on to their forever homes.
