Although not an acupuncturist himself, he is interested in the integration of Acupuncture and traditional Chinese Medicine with Western Medicine. Dr. Pitaro graduated from Regis High School in NYC and then graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S. in Biology. He attended medical school at S.U.N.Y. Downstate (now known as Health Science Center at Brooklyn). He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Pitaro worked as an attending physician in the Bellevue Hospital Primary Care Clinic and ran the General Medicine Inpatient Ward at Bellevue Hospital Center. He received the Lowell E. Bellin Award for Excellence in Preventive Medicine & Community Health Scholarship to study health care in developing countries and spent 3 months working in Ghana, West Africa.
