About Provider Forrest L. Anderson, MD:
Dr. Forrest L. Anderson is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. Dr. Anderson has clinical expertise in minimally invasive techniques and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder, knee, and elbow. As a former collegiate athlete, he understands the challenges and demands facing athletes of all ages and competition levels.
Following his undergraduate studies at Columbia University, Dr. Anderson began his medical education at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then continued at Columbia and attended residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Anderson finished his training with a sports medicine fellowship at the renowned Stanford University in California. There, Dr. Anderson received specialized training in complex knee, shoulder, elbow, and hip conditions.
Dr. Anderson treats sports injuries, chronic conditions such as arthritis, and traumatic injuries affecting the upper or lower extremities. Dr. Anderson has expertise in treating complex knee, shoulder, and elbow conditions, as well as injuries of the hip and ankle. He specializes in ACL reconstruction, meniscal and cartilage preservation, rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, and shoulder replacement. Dr. Anderson uses nonsurgical, arthroscopic, and open surgical techniques. He takes a conservative, patient-centered approach to achieve the greatest outcome with the least invasive treatment.
Additionally, Dr. Anderson has extensive team coverage experience and has served as the team physician for the Oakland Athletics, San Jose Earthquakes, Stanford University, Columbia University, Manhattan College, and multiple high schools and junior colleges. He has taken care of professional athletes from the NFL, MLB, MLS, and NHL.
Dr. Anderson has presented at numerous regional, national, and international conferences. He has authored or co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications, surgical technique videos, and textbook chapters. A native New Yorker, Dr. Anderson enjoys skiing, running, cooking, and traveling. He is a former collegiate rower, and he loves coaching, playing, or watching sports when he is not taking care of his patients.
