Richard Guma, DC, MSJ, CHCQM

Dr. Richard R. Guma, DC, MSJ, CHCQM is the Director of Chiropractic Services at Optum in New Jersey. Raised in Secaucus, Dr. Guma has over 30 years clinical experience promoting wellness and treating spinal/musculoskeletal injuries caused by daily life as well as those related to trauma/accidents. His services mainly include chiropractic manipulation, physiotherapy, soft-tissue therapy, exercise, rehabilitation and wellness education. Dr. Guma puts an emphasis on not only providing quality treatment for his patients but also educating patients on overall health and wellness.

Dr. Guma’s patient care philosophy is: “Treat your patients well enough so they can’t wait to see you again, but educate them well enough so they don’t always need to.”

Dr. Guma received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Montclair State University and his Doctorate in Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College. He also earned a Masters Degree in Health Law and Policy from Seton Hall Law School’s Center for Health & Pharmaceutical Law and Policy.

Dr. Guma has also earned a number of post-graduation certifications including being certified by in Healthcare Care Quality from the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review.

Dr. Guma is also a founder and trustee of the Guma Foundation (est. 2001), which is a registered charity with the state of New Jersey and federal government that gives at least $10,000 per year to the Tomorrows Children’s Fund of Hackensack University Medical Center to the families of children with brain tumors.

Dr. Guma is an avid cook as well as being a musician for 40+ years. He is married and has two grown children.
