What is laser treatment?

Laser treatments can improve a variety of skin issues. Your esthetician will examine your skin and discuss your aesthetic goals, helping to determine which laser treatment is right for you. Our lasers provide improvement for discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, pore size, scarring, and uneven texture.

Different laser treatments are used to target your particular skin concerns. Laser treatments will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, with natural results and little downtime.

What are the benefits?

After laser treatment, you can expect to experience:

  • Improvement in the skin’s tone and texture
  • More even skin color
  • A reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enhanced confidence
  • Natural, lasting results

Who is the ideal candidate?

The ideal candidate has realistic expectations for the results of their treatment.

What can I expect from recovery?

Laser treatments are performed in our office and require minimal to no recovery time. After your treatment, you can expect the skin to be flushed and sensitive. We highly recommend wearing high SPF and avoiding direct sunlight in the days following your laser treatment as your skin heals.

What options and techniques are available?

Depending on your skin’s needs, there are three types of laser treatments available: Laser Genesis, Photo Facial, and Resurfacing.

Your surgeon will discuss all available options and make treatment recommendations to give you the best outcome.

Laser genesis
Laser Genesis utilizes laser energy to penetrate the skin and stimulate collagen and fibroblast production. This type of laser treats uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, and scars, leaving even tone and vibrant skin.
Resurfacing
Resurfacing using the Pearl Fusion or Pearl Fractional Laser, treats the whole outer layer of the skin, the epidermis. This treatment reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, smooths texture, and shrinks pores. This treatment is normally performed using anesthesia and requires the most downtime.
Photo facial
Photo facial, or IPL laser, helps treat skin that has been discolored by the sun or aging. Skin is left with an even tone and a healthy glow.

Frequently asked questions

What are the steps of a laser skin procedure?

Cosmetic laser treatment is done in-office and typically takes between 30 minutes to one hour.

  • Managing your discomfort: Your aesthetician may numb the skin with local anesthetics. In preparation, your face will be thoroughly cleaned and you may be given eye protection.
  • Laser treatment: Your aesthetician will conduct the laser treatment, prioritizing your comfort. They will utilize skill and precision to give you the best result.
  • After the procedure: After your laser treatment is completed, you will be given detailed care instructions to promote healing. Specialized topical treatments may be needed to enhance recovery.

What are the risks associated with laser treatments?

Laser treatment may carry risks. These include:

  • Swelling and itching
  • Infection
  • Skin discoloration
  • Scarring

Your aesthetician will discuss possible risks before your treatment.

What results can I expect after resurfacing (fractional) laser treatment?

Following your treatment, your skin will appear swollen and sunburned, but most patients experience little in the way of the discomfort. You will be given detailed instructions for a skincare regimen to achieve maximum results post-procedure. In many cases, only five days are needed for patients to see dramatic results from this single treatment. This safe form of laser treatment is an intense approach to reversing the signs of aging with one treatment and minimal downtime.

Sun exposure should be avoided immediately after and you may also be sensitive to sunlight for up to a year.

Efforts should be made to minimize sun exposure and sunscreen must be applied daily.
