What is a breast revision procedure?

For any number of reasons a patient may desire a breast revision procedure. Common causes for breast revisions include: Implant shifts over time, a desire for size change, changing soft tissue around the implant, implant related complications such as capsular contracture, previous surgery that did not achieve your goals.

Our board-certified plastic surgeons are skilled artists that are committed to working with you to provide personalized, compassionate care. They have one goal in mind: to help you enhance your natural beauty, allowing you to look as good on the outside as you feel on the inside.

What are the benefits?

If you’re experiencing issues after a previous breast procedure, our board-certified plastic surgeons can help you reach your desired outcome. After your breast revision you will experience:

  • Improved breast shape and size
  • Better breast symmetry and body proportion
  • Boost in self-confidence
  • Beautiful, natural-looking results

Who is the ideal candidate?

Patients often seek breast revision surgery after a previous surgery leaves unsatisfactory results or creates a health issue. Ideal candidates for a breast revision are at, or close to their ideal weight, do not smoke or consume nicotine, have completed breast feeding at least 6-8 months prior to surgery and are in good general health. Patients 40 years old and above should complete a screening mammogram prior to augmentation.

What can I expect from recovery?

What to expect after breast revision will depend on the exact type of procedure your New York plastic surgeon performs. You will be advised ahead of time what you may expect, typically some soreness and swelling. During surgery, your surgeon may temporarily place drains to eliminate excess fluid and avoid retention. After surgery, your surgeon will provide pain medication to alleviate discomfort and postoperative care instructions. A surgical garment may be used to help support the breasts and reduce swelling. Physical activity will need to be minimized for at least the first 2 weeks while you heal, however you can expect to return to your regular physical routine by 6 weeks post-operatively.
