About Provider Kunal K. Chawla, MD, FACC, FSCAI:
Kunal K. Chawla, M.D. is a structural interventional cardiologist who specializes in the management of coronary arterial disease, valvular and structural heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, and cardiogenic shock. Dr. Chawla’s treatment philosophy is to provide patient-centered, evidence-based, and comprehensive care. He strives to partner with his patients to tailor individualized care plans that enhance longevity and, more importantly, quality of life while respecting their beliefs and treatment goals.
Dr. Chawla did his internal medicine residency training at the State University of New York – Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY and stayed for an additional year to serve as Chief Internal Medicine Resident. Following this training, Dr. Chawla completed his general cardiology and interventional fellowships at the University of Massachusetts Medical School – Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA where he also served as Chief Fellow. He then completed an Advanced Structural & Endovascular Fellowship at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. He is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, internal medicine, comprehensive echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and vascular imaging (RPVI).
Dr. Chawla has a clinical interest in complex coronary interventions, structural heart disease including minimally invasive valve replacement and intervention, peripheral vascular interventions, and cardiogenic shock. Dr. Chawla has authored and co-authored multiple publications on the treatment of structural heart disease. He has presented his work at national and regional cardiology conferences including Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) and Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) scientific sessions. He also serves on the SCAI Structural Heart Council.
As a native Long Islander, Dr. Chawla is eager to serve the people of Long Island and the New York Metro. He sees patients at our Lake Success office and is accepting new patients.
