Dr. Katherine Cummings is a pediatrician interested in child development and behavior, mental health, and patient education. Her philosophy of care is to be a good listener and understand a patient's history, and that the best intervention is one that is attainable and practical for both the patient and their family.
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Dr. Cummings attended medical school in Long Island and then joined the Peace Corps after college. During a 2-year stay in Tanzania, she developed an interest in global health and more deeply understood the importance of good primary care. Dr. Cummings then went on to complete her residency at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland, which included pediatric rotations as far away as Lesotho in Southern Africa.
