Jasmin Harounian, MD is a fellowship-trained, board-certified Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine Physician. Dr. Harounian specializes in the diagnosis and non-operative management of comprehensive spine and musculoskeletal injuries. She understands that, at some point, everyone experiences aches and pains, and her goal is to restore function, decrease pain, and improve her patients' overall quality of life.
In order to help her patients, Dr. Harounian implements a wide array of treatment options, from targeted medication management and physical therapy exercise prescription to peripheral injections and musculoskeletal ultrasound, which evaluates a patient's soft tissues and joints in real time to provide a better understanding of what is causing their pain. Her interventional spine procedures include but are not limited to fluoroscopic (or X-ray)-guided cervical, thoracic and lumbar injections, medial branch blocks, and radiofrequency ablations.
Dr. Harounian is a member of several professional organizations including AAPM&R, AMSSM, and AAP. She held a nationally-elected position as the PM&R Representative on the American Medical Society Sports Medicine Council and has worked with athletes of various levels and backgrounds: from weekend warriors and recreational joggers to marathon runners and USA Fencing Olympians. She has served as a clinical textbook editor and authored several textbook chapters, as in A Case-Based Approach to Shoulder Pain, Essential Sports Medicine, and Telemedicine for the Musculoskeletal Exam, among others. Her clinical and research interests include regenerative medicine, sports-related injuries, female athletes, innovations in interventional spine procedures, and concussion protocols.
