Dr. McCalla earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Howard University College of Medicine in 2002. He returned to New York to complete his residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in infectious diseases at New York Medical College.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. McCalla serves as a Medical Corps Officer in the US Army Reserves since 2012. This experience has provided him with valuable training that complements his civilian duties as an infectious disease physician. He is dedicated to infectious disease and has participated in various hospital committees, including infection control, antibiotic stewardship, and peer review.
Dr. McCalla sees patients 16 years and older, treating a wide range of conditions from common infections to complex diseases such as HIV, endocarditis, and tick-borne illnesses.
