Bahar Hadjiesmaeiloo, MD cares for Riverside’s patients in our Rutherford, Hoboken Maxwell, and North Bergen locations. Dr. Hadjiesmaeiloo earned her undergraduate, public health and medical school degrees from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She completed her internship and psychiatry residency at Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia, PA. There she was resident of the year for two years and served as Chief Resident during her final year. She is trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as psychopharmacology.
Following her residency, she served as Director of the Inpatient Consultation/Liaison service at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, PA before joining the Riverside Team. She has presented at local and national conferences and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association. She is Board Certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Hadjiesmaeiloo was also a recognized honoree of the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) in 21. The GHHS recognizes physicians who display professionalism and humanism in medical care.
Dr. Hadjiesmaeiloo believes every individual comes to her with his or her unique set of experiences. With this understanding she applies the highest standard of evidenced based medicine to a patient-centered treatment approach where patients are activate members of the treatment plan. Hers is a philosophy that mental health and wellness is achieved with an holistic approach to patient care.
Dr. Hadjiesmaeiloo is fluent in Farsi and proficient in Spanish. Her areas of special interest in treating patients include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosomatic medicine, psychotic disorders, women’s mental health/peripartum, chronically mentally ill, personality disorders, PTSD/Trauma, and ADHD.
