Alex Neufeld, DPT, OCS, CSCS, is a native New Yorker who obtained his bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Stony Brook University and went on to earn his doctorate of physical therapy from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. During his time at Mercy College, he served as the graduate assistant for the PT program and played a key role in managing the motion capture laboratory for interdisciplinary research.
Alex began his professional career in March 2020, working in the acute care setting. Witnessing the challenges faced by patients during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, he became determined to find more effective ways to intervene within the scope of physical therapy. While initially focused on gaining expertise in orthopedic physical therapy during his first year of PT school, Alex's experiences working with seriously ill patients prompted him to pursue opportunities for specialization. He successfully applied for orthopedic residencies in the New York City area and was accepted into the prestigious Clinical Residency in Orthopedic Physical Therapy at Columbia University. Throughout his residency year, Alex fulfilled his clinical duties at two outpatient clinics within the NYP-Columbia hospital system. He also served as a lab instructor for entry-level DPT students and completed several case reviews.
Alex has a strong love for learning and actively seeks out continuing education opportunities and regularly consults with mentors to stay at the forefront of research and best practices. His clinical interests lie in orthopedics, manual therapy, rehabilitation for foot/ankle and complex shoulder repairs, and exploring innovative approaches to reduce treatment time. He achieved his board certification in orthopedics (OCS), and continues to seek out other areas of study. Alex's dedication to his patients, commitment to ongoing learning, and passion for his work make him an exceptional physical therapist who consistently strives for excellence in his field. Recently, he has published a case report titled "Outpatient Physiotherapy for Immune-Mediated Necrotizing Myositis With a Positive Outcome: Must Pathology Equal Dysfunction?
