Dr. Sheldon Axelrod is a board certified Urologist who received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his urology training at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.
He received an award for urology research and has published in the Journal of Urology, the official journal of the American Urological Association. Dr. Axelrod was honored to stay on as a member of the full-time academic facility at Columbia-Presbyterian upon completion of his Chief Residency at that institution.
He subsequently moved to Northern Westchester where he has practiced for more than 15 years, completing a term as Chief of Urology at Northern Westchester Hospital. Recently, Dr. Axelrod was named a "Top Doctor" by Westchester Magazine; he was further named a "Top Doctor" in the country by US News & World Report.
The conversation around prostate health has gained renewed urgency following former President Joe Biden's announcement that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. Dr. Axelrod highlighted the importance of early prostate cancer screenings in his interview with Radio Catskill.
