Larissa Heron, DPT firmly believes that physical therapy is a combination of art and science. She values individualized, thorough, and compassionate care. Each session is driven by therapeutic goals, and every success is celebrated.
Larissa has a BA in Human Biology from Hunter College, graduating with special honors and summa cum laude. During her time as an undergraduate, she completed an internship at Burke's Medical Research Institute, where she conducted research on spinal cord injury. She then went on to earn her doctor of physical therapy from Hunter College, where she was awarded a scholarship and recognized for her academic achievements.
During her graduate studies, Larissa was involved in a three-year research project focused on the effects of a barefoot training program on sensation and balance in individuals with multiple sclerosis. She even had the opportunity to present her findings at the International Symposium on Gait and Balance in MS. In terms of her clinical experiences, Larissa has worked in outpatient orthopedics, acute bedside care, and spinal cord injury rehabilitation.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Larissa enjoys activities such as CrossFit, swimming, paddleboarding, and SCUBA diving. She is also passionate about mentoring youth in New York City and has served as a mentor for high school students interested in healthcare through the Ready for Healthcare Initiative. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and its New York chapter.
