Janhavi Shirali, MD

Janhavi Shirali, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist, specializing in pediatric ophthalmology. She grew up in various countries around the globe, including India, England, Abu Dhabi, Canada, and presently calls New York her home. She attended the University of Toronto and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering with honors. She then worked as a consultant at Accenture before deciding to pursue her passion in medicine. She obtained her medical degree, graduating summa cum laude, from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. She then went on to complete her Ophthalmology residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. In 2017, she completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the renowned Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Shirali’s goal is to provide compassionate and friendly, high-quality care to children with strabismus. She believes that protecting and improving a child's vision is essential to their overall growth and development.

Her areas of expertise include routine vision screening exams and glasses, strabismus, amblyopia, blocked nasolacrimal ducts, pediatric dermoids, chalazion, pediatric cataracts, pink eye, and blepharitis.

She is a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AOA) and a fellow of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).

On her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, playing with her daughter, biking, dancing, and reading.
