Dr. James Battista is a Neurologist who also specializes in the care of those with Parkinson’s Disease and other Movement Disorders. He received his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and then completed his Neurology Residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by a two-year Fellowship in Movement Disorders at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai in New York City. After his training, he spent over three years building a movement disorder program in Charlotte, NC, followed by two years working as a part of a Parkinson’s Disease Center of Excellence in Charleston, SC. Dr. Battista is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the International Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society. He is published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, with topics ranging from sleep in Parkinson’s Disease to Movement Disorder Emergencies.

Dr. Battista treats adult patients with neurologic conditions with a specialization in movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, tremor, dystonia, dyskinesia, ataxia, tics, and chorea. His goals is to treat the underlying condition and related symptoms to improve quality of life for the patient and their care team. Additionally, Dr. Battista performs botulinum toxin injections for facial spasm, dystonia and spasticity; utilizing EMG and E-stim guidance. He is also experienced in the use of deep brain stimulation for the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease, Essential tremor, and dystonia.
