Caroline DeFilippo is thrilled to be a part of Optum practicing in the same community where she was born and raised. Dr. DeFilippo graduated from Harvard University in 2001 and then spent one year pursuing graduate studies in Australia as part of a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship. After working in public health for a number of years focusing on chronic disease management, she completed her Medical Degree and Masters Degree in Public Health at Mt Sinai in 2009. She was honored for her outstanding teaching and humanism skills during her training. Her residency in internal medicine, also at Mount Sinai, focused on primary care. Prior to joining Optum, she was in private practice for 5 years and served as an Associate Medical Director at WestMed Medical Group. She is passionate about primary care particularly as it allows for the development of long term partnerships with patients and their families. She values a comprehensive approach to healthcare. Her professional interests include management of chronic diseases and promoting wellness especially for parents. She is married with three children and enjoys travel and the outdoors.
