Dr. Amanda Gangoo is a dedicated psychiatrist with over fifteen years of experience in community-based psychiatry. Before joining Optum Behavioral Health, she worked as an Attending Psychiatrist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and the Coordinator of the International Medical Graduate Observership at the Audubon Clinic. She also served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Gangoo specializes in treating adults with mood and anxiety disorders. Her approach emphasizes respectful, empathic, and compassionate care to help patients achieve their life goals. She is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Gangoo earned her Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from St. John's University in 2005 and her Doctor of Medicine with honors from Ross University School of Medicine in 2009. She completed her internship at Northwell Health, Plainview Hospital, and her residency in General Psychiatry at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center and Columbia University Medical Center/New York Presbyterian.
In her free time, Dr. Gangoo enjoys traveling with her family, swimming, and hiking.
