Born in Australia and raised primarily in Michigan, Taavi's educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Michigan – Dearborn and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Wayne State University in Detroit. His commitment to mental health led him to complete a post-graduate residency in mental health at the prestigious Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, in affiliation with Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Throughout his career, Taavi has found his passion in outpatient psychiatry, where he appreciates the opportunity to build long-term relationships with his patients and contribute to their journey towards improvement. As a member of the Optum team, he cares for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, tailoring treatment plans to each individual's unique needs and providing evidence-based care informed by his diverse training in psychiatric subfields.
In his spare time, Taavi enjoys exploring new restaurants, taking walks, traveling, watching movies, and listening to podcasts.
